Putting the FUN into Fundraising!

So it's been a busy couple of weeks for Tanya and I. We've been on hospital radio, Stray FM, had a ball, and an Easter Party, and are now preparing for the upcoming Handbags and Gladrags evening and the Lush pamper party.

I have put some pictures up of the events we have had so far. Thank you so much to everyone who has helped us. Particular thanks to the band for the ball; Doctor Thirsty, and to Simon Cotton and Jemma Lyons at the Cedar Court Hotel for an excellent evening on the night of the ball. We were extremely well looked after, and the food was fantastic. Special thanks to Mark Bexley, our wonderful host, who also auctioned himself off at the end of the night as a slave for the day!

Sunday was lovely weather, and the perfect day for an Easter party! Organised by my wonderful neighbours Sara and Rod, we had a brilliant time with an Egg and Spoon race, 3-legged race, Sack race, bingo, quiz and loads and loads of fun. Thank you to everyone who joined us, it was an amazing day.

These events have raised over £400 for the trek, and we have so many people to thank. In such difficult financial times, it is a credit to our commmunities, friends and families that there is still thought for others, and support for the hospice. Thank you all. x

Raising Funds!!

We have got the totals in for fundraising so far, and have almost achieved that magical first £1000. This does not yet include ball ticket sales, or upcoming events of which there are many.

Thanks to everyone who has attended an event so far. The Karaoke night achieved a fantastic £250 from entry fees and the raffle, and the Wine and Cheese party totalled £200 from donations for wine and entry fees.

Please keep checking back for details of other exciting entertainment and fundraising opportunities. Anyone who fancies a challenge, combined with some fantastic fundraising can join us on our 'Go-Ape challenge' in May. Tanya and I are going to beat our heights fear by swinging through the trees at Go Ape, and anyone wishing to join us can go for FREE if they can gather £100 sponsorship together for the China Trek for St. Michael's cause. This is obviously not for the faint-hearted!

Off the starting blocks!

Tanya's fab dinner party idea, and tarot card parties, (readings kindly performed by Sam) have set us off in the money stakes. We have received a kick start, and with the forthcoming Wine and Cheese evening, and Stars in their Eyes karaoke, we are hoping to reach a first landmark total by the end of February.

St. Michael's Hospice have given us some donation boxes, so we can collect money in a variety of ways now! You don't have to attend an event, we will just unashamedly beg for your cash upfront!

Thanks to everyone helping us so far, including Lightwater Valley and Cream hairdressing, for donations of raffle prizes for the ball. (We look forward to seeing loads of people there!!)

Can you spare some change sir...?

We have another fundraising initiative, which asks you to part only with your small change, (as much of it as you'd like to though!)

We are asking for your copper and your silver, to fill our penny jars. We are planning to set up stall in April with a guess the amount in each jar competition. The closest guess will win £15 for the silver jar and £10 for the copper jar.

If you can spare any change and save us your coppers let us know. We will be very grateful!

Welcome to our fundraising blog. We aim for this to be an informative look into how we aim to both raise money for our local hospice, and get fit enough to 'walk the wall!'

There will be updates on fundraising activities, events that you may find enjoyable, information updates about the hospice, and news updates about our journey to size zero (as if!)

Over the next 6 months we have to raise a combined £6000 to enable us to trek for 5 days along the Great Wall of China in September. This money will be split between paying for our trip, and giving funds to the hospice. The more we make, the more the hospice benefits, which is our overall intention.
